PURPOSE

The Electricity program prepares students for careers in residential and commercial electrical construction by developing the technical skills needed to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems. Students gain experience with electrical theory, wiring methods, safety practices, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and industry-standard tools while building a strong foundation for employment and career advancement in the electrical industry.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Electrical Theory & Safety
Build a strong foundation in electrical principles, OSHA safety practices, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and industry-standard procedures for safe electrical work.
Residential Wiring
Install and troubleshoot residential electrical systems, including lighting, receptacles, switches, service panels, conduit, GFCI/AFCI protection, and low-voltage systems.
Commercial Electrical Systems
Read commercial wiring plans, install conduit and raceway systems, wire three-phase circuits, and work with commercial lighting and service equipment.
Electrical Troubleshooting & Testing
Use electrical test equipment to measure voltage, current, and resistance while diagnosing and resolving electrical system problems using industry-standard methods.
Electrical Math & Blueprint Reading
Apply electrical mathematics, interpret construction drawings and wiring diagrams, calculate electrical loads, and use the National Electrical Code to complete projects accurately.
Career Readiness
Develop the technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, professionalism, and hands-on experience needed for careers as electrician helpers, residential electricians, commercial electricians, and other opportunities in the electrical industry.
